Before February 23, loan amounts of both men and women grow

On the eve of February 23, the alternative loans market traditionally experience increase of average volume of loans  among both male and female clients. According to Moneyman (part of IDF Eurasia), the ratio of men to women among borrowers is 43% to 57%.

In 2020, the average loan amount for women on the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day compared with the respective period in January increased by 15% to RUB 16,650. There is the opinion that the “pre-holiday” loans are taken more spontaneously (as they say, “on emotions”) and, as a result, the level of overdue debt on them is higher. According to estimates of Moneyman, it is not true: the “overdue” indicator remains within normal limits i.e. around 7%.

Among men the average loan amount compared with the figure for January increased by 23% to RUB 17,300. At the same time, according to the own research of the company, about 20% of them i.e. one out of five have served (or are now serving) in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Especially by February 23, Moneyman conducted a survey of its a female audience among the companies of alternative lending  to find out what gifts they plan to hand. The top-3 presents included perfume, clothes and electronics:  21%, 16% and 13% respectively. Elite alcohol (10%), gift certificate (7%) and tickets for event (6%) are next by order of popularity. The outstanding 27% of respondents preferred to indicate their options in the comments, blacksmithing workshop and flight on a sports plane were most original of them.

The studies were conducted in the form of the online survey of clients of microfinance organizations throughout Russia, 3944 male respondents and 3243 female respondents respectively took part in them.
